Last week, we presented the results of one week of intensely collaborative internet research. The subject of the research was stock photography in large European newspapers. If the news is considered the specific, unique and urgent then stock photography could be considered the generic and ubiquitous. Consequently our research question ‘How do concepts like visual genericity and reusability contribute to a critical appraisal of the role of images in contemporary news-making?’
