It feels great to be walking with slight nostalgia in the corridors of the anthropology department of the Utrecht University. Not as a bachelor student, this time I have the fortunate possibility to significantly contribute to an interesting project.

Combining internet research strategies with qualitative grassroots anthropological fieldwork, Hans de Kruijf and I are making a collaborative effort to understand local versus the international tendencies in anti-GMO activism. In this initial phase of the research, we are mostly exploring and mapping mediated coverages of anti-GMO affections using Twitter-data to understand and track the discussion and inter-website analysis to untangle the information (organizational and social) ecosystems. This will presumably and hopefully make for an informed case-study choice together with a more effective fieldwork experience.

That is what I call genuine interdisciplinary mixed-method research!
